mot article jan05

Yesterday I took my car for it’s MOT. So now I have a happy car that is running as well as it should. We are forced by the government to do this and although we often resent paying out the money at the time, perhaps it is no bad thing. It saves lives and the environment and in the long run probably saves us money.
Shame perhaps that we are not forced to give ourselves a preventative work- over each year. If a car becomes unreliable, then in most cases people get a replacement.
Yet if your body fails, you cannot get away from the problem, and it can seriously disrupt your daily life. Surprisingly very few people think that it is worth investing in preventative health, perhaps many people are not aware of the treatments for boosting their health, as it is mainly complementary therapies that work in this way.
Homeopathy is one such natural treatment that not only works with any current problems, but it also helps with energy levels, sleep, anxiety, in fact anything that is out of balance.
This kind of treatment has long-term benefits. At this time of year I treat a lot of patients suffering from depression, never been wells since the flu, recurrent colds and sore throats. Many of these people suffer from these symptoms every year, but by addressing these problems now they can greatly improve their current state of health, they will improve their overall health and therefore reduce the chance of a repeat next winter.
You don’t need to have symptoms to have an MOT, but sometimes symptoms are helpful in forcing you to address the situation. I treat many menopausal women who would not normally have tried complementary medicine, but they get to a point when they will try anything. I am frequently told it must be black magic by these ladies who are amazed that not only is their menopause greatly improved but also other symptoms that they have had forever other have disappeared too.
You may suffer from hay fever and so wont have symptoms now, but by addressing that problem in the early spring you can greatly improve your symptoms next summer, usually leading to no symptoms within a few years.
It’s not too late for new years resolutions, if your TV was fuzzy, would you ignore it? I think not, you would probably pay a TV engineer to sort it out. So for about the same cost, you could start this year with a resolution to run on all cylinders and not put up with those niggling symptoms.
Remember true good health is when you are not aware of your physical body and your mind is free to engage with life around you.

Readers should not adopt any course of treatment without first consulting a health professional.
